Tibered

The central border province of Tibered is a region characterized by vast hilly forest landscapes. While most major settlements are located in the east, the landscape becomes increasingly untouched the further west one goes. In the western areas of the province, close to the border, there is a strong troop presence and many fresh recruits of the khanian army spend their basic training in the extensive forests of the west. The province is bounded to the west by the Great Wall, a bulwark erected by Timuria after the retreat of the khanian army following the destruction of Gebra, which has since divided the continent. The no-man's land between the khanian fortifications and Timuria's Great Wall has always been a place of tension, though these have mostly played out in the southern and northern neighboring border provinces in recent years. Nonetheless, the inhabitants of western Tibered are known for their rough, often somewhat rustic manner and the relentlessness with which they are willing to defend their land and property against intruders.   The forests of Tibered are considered the cradle of the human race, a region where not only the first humans developed, but also their first higher cultures emerged. Even today, the ruins of the ancient human capital, Lezina, loom near the newly erected capital, Lezina Nova. These ruins, the most expensive price that humans had to pay during the Dragon Wars, remind anyone who looks at them from a distance of the suffering that Kameria's beasts brought upon the lands. Apart from some cultists and foolish adventurers, however, only a few venture into the melted ruins of the old capital. While Tibered was only partially involved in some combat operations during the Partition War, it gained importance, particularly in the years after the war, as the most significant refuge for orc tribes displaced from the Hesed highlands by Timuria. This explains the very high proportion of orcs in the western forests of Tibered today. And even though few people in Tibered would be willing to admit it, the new and old inhabitants of Tibered are more similar to each other than one would expect.
