Nezak

Nezak is a province of contrasts. The province takes its name from the Nezak River, one of the mightiest rivers in Abkhazia. While numerous prosperous towns have formed in its lower reaches in the flatlands, and agriculture thrives in some western areas, the eastern part of the province, a powerful wind-smoothed valley, has always been a place full of mysteries. Human settlements in this rugged valley are few and far between, and agriculture is greatly hindered by the cold winds that flow from the colossal peaks to the north.   As the province borders directly on the Colossus Mountains, the ancient home and still autonomous region of the dwarves, numerous dwarven communities can also be found in Nezak, especially those that have learned to integrate into a society with other humanoids. The dwarves living in Nezak are often seen by dwarves from the mountain lands as softened and weakened by civilization, but many of them have been able to build a good life in Nezak.   Many tough warriors come from the eastern part of the province, and the occult magicians are also highly concentrated here. Particularly noteworthy is the largest occult magic school on the continent in Alsenik, which was closed after the War of Partition amidst widespread protest. However, the only thing Ruard likely achieved with this was to drive the occultists underground, a step that only made the practitioners even more closely associated with the occult, and made the experiments and rituals carried out without any control even more ominous. Therefore, many individuals and groups can be found in the cities and the remote valley who no longer found a place in the rest of the two kingdoms, from occult associations to worshipers of dark deities.
