Granite Gecko
Granite geckos are an odd species. Usually found in the rocky mountains or valleys of The Desert, these funny-looking beasts are a sight to behold. They are passive by nature, preferring to run along cave walls or sleep just under the ground's surface. Finding a Granite Gecko is a rare sight, and taming one is an even more scarce occasion.
Hiders and Diggers
The shovel-like features along the gecko's face are not just for show. They are used to dig through the earth at a rapid rate. Granite geckos do this in order to warm themselves from The Desert's natural heat and to hide in plain sight. The bony protrusions along the back and head of the gecko look like a small pile of stones when they are burrowed.
Faster than Most
The granite gecko is known and prized for one reason above all; their speed. Very few creatures exist that can outrun or even keep pace with these speedy beasts. There have been far too many tales of a brave young Shishuk being launched a few hundred feet off the back of a gecko as it came to a sudden stop. So be warned, hold on tight.
Granite Gecko Mounts
Although it is rare to see these creatures as mounts, some individuals have a knack for befriending them. Many of the Old Lords of The Desert used granite geckos as their chosen mounts for combat. Although having a rather odd appearance and behavior, the size and speed of these massive lizards would strike fear into many.
