Avalanche

An elite military unit of mounted warriors sporting white pelts and riding a rare breed of long haired white horse native to the southern parts of the continent. They serve the army of the Kingdom of Yamnagar.

Composition

Manpower

This elite force of cavalry always consists of 102 soldiers. When a rider dies, a new one is tested, picked and trained among the most decorated in the Yamnagar army. Usually divided into three groups of a leader and 33 men.

Equipment

They don whitened steel armour and white long fur pelts over top. Each rider's horse wears a similar getup with a face covering made from a head of the yeti their rider slew.

Weaponry

Their primary weapon, aptly named the Avalance is a slightly modified lance weapon with a blunt tip designed to knock down, disorient or even outright kill an oponent while this unit charges over the battlefield.

Vehicles

The breed of horse this cavalry uses is the Southern Longhaired Hoovestomper. A rare breed indigenoud to the region to the south of [NAME] mountains, although little more than 100 still exist in the wild.

Training

All its recruits are already highly trained cavalrymen and need very little training past the initial recruitment trials.

Logistics

Logistical Support

Every need from weapons to food is paid by the Kingdom of Yamnagar. As they are sort of a flagship of the Yamnagar army, they always get priority on distributed resources.

Recruitment

Avalanche only recruits the best mounted soldiers. All three group leaders select a new recruit together and proceed to take them through the necessary trials. One leader oversees the Endurance Trial, the second supervises the Vigour Trial and the third presents the Trial of Amity. These trials are often deadly and if a recruit overcomes them, they must then complete the last trial of the initiation - killing an indigenous Abominable Yeti with only a sword and their trusty steed.

History

This unit got its name at the battle for Hengher Plains, where they charged on their white horses trampling the 400 strong enemy army leaving only bloody hoove prints on their path.
