The Isle of Sorrow

A land where shadows stretch unnaturally and the very earth seems to drink the essence of life, the Isle of Sorrow is the cursed dominion of Mayong Mistmoore. Bathed in perpetual twilight, the trees that loom over its landscapes are not merely twisted and gnarled—they consume the remnants of the living, their roots leeching vitality from the soil itself. The air is thick with an unnatural stillness, broken only by the distant creak of wagon wheels carrying fresh corpses to their fates.   Though it may seem a land of the dead, the island is far from empty. Scattered throughout the gloom are villages of the half-dead, beings trapped between the veil of life and death. Neither mortal nor truly undead, they walk eternally in Mayong’s shadow, bound to his will yet ruling over those beneath them—the living who serve as cattle, and the undead who toil as tireless slaves.   Dolmourn, the heart of the island, stands as the blackened jewel of this forsaken realm, a city where silence reigns, save for the soft whispers of the eternal and the dying. Here, Mayong sits upon his throne, his will absolute, his power endless. To step upon the Isle of Sorrow is to abandon all hope of escape, for once the island takes hold of your soul, it will never let go.
