The Dragonspine Mountains

A jagged spine of towering peaks that splits the land in two, the Dragonspine Mountains are as perilous as they are majestic. Named for their sharp, craggy ridges resembling the back of a great wyrm, these mountains form an almost impassable barrier stretching from the frozen north to the untamed south. The range is a land of extremes—of bountiful wealth, deadly dangers, and ancient secrets buried beneath stone and snow. Few can cross these mountains without hardship, and fewer still return from their depths unchanged.   Northern Dragonspine:   The Northern Dragonspine is the most explored and settled part of the range, a land rich with natural resources—iron, gold, and gemstones glimmer beneath the stone, drawing miners and fortune-seekers into its depths. Dwarves and men alike have carved their way into the mountains, building mines, strongholds, and trade routes that feed the growing wealth of the north. While treacherous in its own right, this region is relatively safe compared to the wilds further south, patrolled by rangers, mountain clans, and mercenary groups who guard against raiders and wandering beasts.   Southern Dragonspine:   The Southern Dragonspine is far less explored, a land of rugged peaks, deep ravines, and ancient dangers lurking beneath the stone. Few dare venture into this untamed wilderness, for its trails are unreliable, its beasts are monstrous, and its air is thick with the scent of sulfur. At the heart of the southern range lies a great volcano, its smoldering peak rising above the jagged cliffs like a god of fire and ash. Rivers of magma carve their way through the mountains, shaping the land in ways beyond mortal control. There are whispered legends of forgotten ruins, strange creatures, and even the remnants of ancient dragons who once called these peaks home.   The Dragon’s Tail:   Further south, where the mountains begin to wither into lower ridges and valleys, lies The Dragon’s Tail, a region heavily explored and exploited by the trolls and ogres of southern Antonica. Here, the great range begins to taper off, its peaks lowering into rolling hills of shattered stone and scorched earth. This land has long been claimed by brutal warlords, its resources plundered and its land scarred by reckless greed. Massive quarries and crude mining pits dot the land, feeding the war machines of the ogres and the twisted industry of the trolls. The Dragon’s Tail is a land of stripped wealth, its bones picked clean, leaving only ruins and violence in the wake of its exploitation.   The Dragonspine Mountains, from their wealthy northern peaks to their untamed volcanic heart and their ravaged southern foothills, stand as a testament to both the greed and resilience of those who seek to master them. Whether one comes in search of fortune, conquest, or ancient knowledge, the Dragonspine always demands a price.
