The Desert of Ro
A vast and merciless expanse of sand and stone, the Desert of Ro stretches endlessly beneath a scorching sun, its dunes shifting with the winds like restless spirits. This is a land where the weak perish and only the cunning or the ruthless survive. Water is a treasure, shade is a luxury, and death is an ever-present companion. Though divided into north and south, the desert remains a place of ruin, danger, and fleeting opportunities—where secrets lie buried beneath the sands and only the bold dare to claim them.
Northern Desert of Ro:
The Northern Desert is a land caught between life and death, where the savannah of the Eastern Commonlands fades into a harsh, dry wasteland. Once, rivers may have flowed here, but now, the land is cracked and lifeless, save for the few creatures that stalk its barren stretches. The few oases that exist are scattered and fiercely contested, for they are the only respite in an otherwise unforgiving land of sun-bleached ruins and shifting sands.
Worse still, the northern desert is haunted. Undead roam its dunes, remnants of an ancient civilization long forgotten. Spectral warriors march aimlessly beneath the moon, skeletal remains claw their way from shallow graves, and restless spirits whisper in the dry winds. Travelers report seeing the glint of ancient metal buried in the sand, hints of forgotten tombs filled with untold treasures—but to linger too long in these places is to invite doom. The wilderness is unpredictable, the dunes shifting to bury paths one day and reveal the dead the next.
Southern Desert of Ro:
Though still deadly, the Southern Desert is slightly more hospitable than its northern counterpart. Scattered tribes of nomads roam the sands, eking out survival in the shadows of ancient rock formations and along the few water sources that have not dried up. Unlike the north, where death comes in silence, the south is a land of conflict—a battleground where roaming warlords rise and fall with the tides of fate. These leaders, often ruthless and ambitious, command bands of warriors who raid, trade, and battle over territory, water, and honor.
The political landscape of the south is as shifting as the sands, with warlords gaining power one season and losing it the next. The tribes have no permanent cities or fortresses—only camps and temporary settlements, constantly moving to avoid both the merciless heat and the blades of their rivals.
While dangerous, the southern desert holds opportunity for those willing to barter with the tribes, swear fealty to a warlord, or forge their own path in a land where strength is law and the weak are forgotten.
The Desert of Ro, from its haunted northern sands to its war-torn southern expanse, is a place of ruins, danger, and shifting power. It is not a land for the faint of heart, but for those willing to risk the desert’s wrath, the sands may yet reveal their secrets.
