Elves

Elves are one of the oldest living species in Thea, made directly by the gods in their image, the elves are long of life and ever in tune with nature.

Basic Information

Anatomy

All elven species share a few distinct traits that set them apart from other species. These traits include sharp long ears with variation in length, typically long hair, human like appearance but great grace and beauty to them and many are slim of build, though it is not unlikely to find more shapely or muscular elves. Some elves have also distinct features like long eyebrows that extend outwards or bright eyes and colored sclera, some might even have long sharp nails, but the long ears and grace always seems to remain. 
Elves are being made to mirror nature, because of this an elf might change slightly to fit it's surroundings. For example an elf that has lived in a snowy area might develop snow white hair and pale skin and eyes, whilst one that has lived in the arid desert might have shorter dirty blonde hair and tanned skin.

Biological Traits

Elves can change and adapt to their habitat as long as it is heavily in tune with nature and even more so if it is in tune with magic. This has lead to groups developing similar traits that lead people so label them as sub species but they are all the same elves. To give a few examples of these groups there are Sun elves which are tanned and have warm hair with colors of orange red or blonde, moon elves with pale skin and hair the color of silver or a gray blue, wood elves are often blonde or minty hair with darker skin, snow elves are as pale as the snow around them with ice white hair and crystal clear eyes. Others could be jungle elves which have long dreads in their hair and dark skin, desert elves with the darkest skin of all and dark or sandy colored hair and eyes. Some elven groups have been seen with blue hair, others without any hair at all and many more still come into notice and many more fade from existence, and ever shifting people are the elves and none less graceful or noble than the other.

Genetics and Reproduction

Elves are soft of blood, and if they were to mate with another species their offspring would often be a half elf or fully of the other parent's species but with a few traits of their elven parent such as hair or eye color.

Growth Rate & Stages

Elves are long lived, and while they reach physical maturity at the same age as humans do, they are not considered adults until they reach the age of 100, it is here where they take their adult names. They can easily live up to 1500 years of age.

Ecology and Habitats

Elves are being in tuned with magic and nature, and as such many of them if not most of them prefer to live in places where nature blooms bountifully, be it in forests, jungles or plains, they prefer the sight of green leaves and grass spreading before them. That being said there are very small elven communities that make their home in farther reaches of the world, but these are often joined by other species like humans for company.

Social Structure

Elves generally live in kingdoms ruled by a king or queen and have a similar structure to that of humans, with the king having generals and councilors, under those are nobles of the closest blood to that of the royal family. Under them are dukes and duchesses, under those are lord and ladies, under which serve knights, then soldiers and lastly the common people.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Elves can be found all over the world of Thea as long as there is nature and magic in the land, this is because when the elves were a young race they were very adventurous and spread out discovering the once vacant lands and making settlements for themselves to ease further discoveries. Now the elves chose to remain still, thinking they know all the secrets of Thea.

Average Intelligence

They are among the brightest species in Thea, able to quickly dominate any topic they put their mind to, some have even been able to outshine dwarven master smiths.

Civilization and Culture

Common Dress Code

Elves have a very specific style when it comes to dressing, elegant with delicate details which sway and curve to mimic the shapes of nature are often found in their garments. Even when exposing a lot of skin, they tend to have grace in the small garments that they use. Metals and gems are also often used to decorate themselves, the more you have the higher your status.

History

Elves were brought into being by the gods in the beginning of the world. They lived happily for many decades discovering themselves and the land they were born in, but did not reach farther than that, but that land had wild things and dangers that lurked in the early days. The gods, seeing their first born struggle created a land for them, one where they could become stronger and grow into themselves. Then they beckoned to the elves to leave their birth land and go to this promised one, and many did, thought some remained. Those who stayed would later in time deny the grace of most of the gods, and claim equality to them. These were afterwards punished and were cast from the grace of the gods deep into the ground, there the darkness shaped them and they would become Drow, dark elves. 
The elves that left with the gods were called Hilen, and their leader Veldas, whom among all the elves was the most fair and brave. Their journey took many months yet as their conviction lessened, Veldas would sing of the glory they were to behold and raise it again, and soon they reached the land the gods had made for them, once called Illlione, now called Ilaeden 
At their arrival the elves wept in joy, for they had not seen nor imagined that such beauty existed, this in turn ignited their early lust for discovery. Veldas had at this point proven a great and glorious leader to the Hilen, and the gods, having seen this crowned him and gave him another name; Lollodren, which in their tongue means "unwavering" and "strong". This first king of the elves had his birth name honored as well with the name of the main island As' Veldas. 
King Lollodren in thanks to the generosity and benevolence of the gods, gave them the western island as their place of residence, and to their angels and off spring if they so wished. The gods then glad of this gift dubbed the island Al' Devitaes, the land of the gods, and set about claiming it, and on its tallest peak they placed a tower of marble and gold to serve as their place of resting and also for their angels and their children. Evelien tower it was named, and from that moment, the island has known nor shadow nor death, so that any that pass onto the island is stripped of mortality.
