Occupation of the Milister Station by the Jhil'Mir Mining Cooperation, provoking an expected retaliation from the Pirates which in turns leads to a massive mobilization of the Corps. A conflict that would escalate into the The Great Pirate War
Although the Jhil'Mir Mining Cooperation brings a superiors fleets composed of brand new Ironclad ships, their crew is mostly composed of unexperienced mercenaries. The Pirates employ hit and run tactics and wear down the occupying fleet.
A loose coalition of different pirate crews manages to defeat the last remains of the corporates fleet and liberate Milister Station from the control of the Jhil'Mir Mining Cooperation.
Faced with the fact the Corps can be beaten, the sentiment although out the Hius System start to shift. Topics like worker rights, freedom and equality are openly discussed.
Emboldened the victory at Milister Station a lot of individual Pirate Crews run raids in the surrounding region on smaller outposts from various Corps not just with the intend of looting, but to outright expel them.
A convention is held at the Rock of Braal to discuss the future of the Hius System . In attendance are every Pirate Crew of name, various noble houses, political speakers, philosophers and even representatives of different Corps. The convention quickly separates into 2 major factions, one promoting peaceful reform while the other pushing for a violent revolution. In the end the militarists win out. The Navy of the Free is founded and the 7 most notorious Pirates in attendance are declared Pirate King to lead as admirals.
The Navy of the Free quickly springs into action and rapidly takes control over key locations along the main routes of Hius. This offensive is less powered by militaristic genius and much more by a the drive of each of the 7 Pirate Kings to top the other accomplishments. After most of Hius is under control some fleets even make ground in other Major & Minor systems.
Rattled by the disastrous developments in the Hius System various Corps come together to form the Syndicate Compound in an effort to funnel their resources into a united military response. Nearly every mercenary with a ship willing to take a contract is given one. A massive navy is rapidly produced. Yet those forces, despite their technological advantages are constantly outclassed by the Navy of the Free.
After years of lobbying the Clockwork Gnomes join the Syndicate Compound. To signify this shift, the informal Syndicate Compound is now public reestablished as the Clockwork Alliance with the Clockwork Gnomes at least outwards in charge.
While the Clockwork Gnomes are traditionally peace loving and never shown any interest in military conflict, once they committed them self to the war, it took them mere months to develop terrifying new technologies. This sudden pushed in technological superiority finally managed to close the gab in skill. The tides of war drastically shifted in favor of the Corps. A lot of modern technologies that are currently reshaping The Triumvirate have their origin in this phase of the war.
The last stand of the Pirates at Milister Station. The greatest mobilization of naval forces in recorded history that ultimately was ended by the use of an unknown devastating weapon of mass destruction by the Clockwork Gnomes.
The Corps expected to go back to the status quo after the war and have the Clockwork Gnomes assume their docile peaceful existence. The Clockwork Gnomes meanwhile had other plans. Over the course of the war they used complicated financial obligations and even more complicated legal constructs to outplay the Corps at their own game. They had gained controlling majorities in most of the Corps. This position of power would be used to establish the Clockwork Federation. In the end, at least some of the noble goals of the Convent of Braal would actually be realized in this way.
