Sofia Cortés
The Rebel
Sofia Cortés is a symbol of resistance against oppression of the Corps. Abducted by the Navy Coorp at age 13, Sofia was forcibly removed from her pirate upbringing and thrust into the heart of Artaros to undergo what was euphemistically termed "education"—a process that often amounted to indoctrination into the values of the ruling elite.
Despite the Coorp's attempts to mold her into compliance, Sofia remained a troublemaker at heart, perpetually drawn to the allure of rebellion. Immersed in the high society of the core system, she clandestinely relayed vital information to local rebel groups, leveraging her privileged position as a pawn in the hands of the wealthy elite. Sofia's charisma and leadership qualities propelled her to the forefront of the resistance movement, where she recruited numerous sympathizers, facilitated the transfer of critical information, and orchestrated the clandestine movement of funds.
However, Sofia's daring exploits eventually caught up with her when her cell was betrayed, leading to her arrest and subsequent public execution. Defiant to the end, she refused to renounce her beliefs, cursing her oppressors with her last breath. Sofia Cortés' martyrdom elevated her to a revered status among Pirates, transforming her into a symbol of defiance and righteous resistance. Her legacy continues to reverberate through the discourse surrounding the justification for the Great Pirate War, serving as a stark reminder of the power of individual defiance in the face of tyranny.
