Snapdragon

Originally thought of as a myth, the snapdragon is an aggressive carnivorous plant from the Dragontooth Isles. In slight bit of irony, the snapdragon’s name is completely self-explanatory. These plants are known for their extremely nonsensical hatred of dragons. They can live about as long as a typical dragon and can grow to about half the size of an ancient dragon.     They are flowering plants with flower buds that resemble the snouts of dragons. They are generally not dangerous to other races aside from dragons unless they are hungry. The pollen snapdragon’s exude attracts dragons. Those that are unsuspecting of the plant’s nature lean in and then the flower of the plant snaps down on the dragon. These plants contain venom which is unleashed whenever they bite into a creature. Because they digest their prey slowly, their venom is designed to slowly shut down the body’s functions, essentially turning it into a corpse from the inside out. The brain and vision are typically the last things to leave.   These plants liquidate their prey and prefer smaller dragons to larger ones, meaning they will mostly attack dragon hatchlings whenever they have the opportunity. Their insidious nature towards dragons is at its most prominent when devouring hatchlings. In some rare cases, the snapdragon will not liquidate the hatchling and instead keep the corse in its mouth. Controlling the corpse’s limbs to make it seem alive, the plant makes the corpse mimick a live hatchling. Other hatchlings or older dragons are lured in to save the “live” hatchling and become bitten as well.   When a snapdragon has reached full maturity, it will take the corpse of a dragon and fertilize it, creating more snapdragons from the corpse of a single dragon. The larger the dragon corpse, the more snapdragons that can be created.
