Morigor

"What have we done...?"

As Prostesa is a continent brimming with magic, it's only natural that a part of it would harbor something truly strange. There, on the northern half of the continent lies Morigor, a city that's known for having undead used for domestic and military service. As such, necromancers make a living here as they manage and supervise the undead day by day.

Their lives are looked upon as strange by anyone else, but Morigans believed wholeheartedly that their system was one that worked, and it did until very recently.

Demographics

Poverty is minimal and there are more humans than any other race here. And, of course, the city is filled with a plethora of undead of different races. The necromancers are often of the highest class as they are the wall between chaos and order.

Government

Morigor is an oligarchy of six people, two of which are given the title of Director and Vice Director. The Directors are the face of the government and are the most involved in both politics and domestic life while the other four are simply there to assist in voting and discussing the best way to run the city. Due to their efforts, research has gone into devising magical techniques and items to assist necromancers in controlling the undead.

Defences

The walls that help form the layers of the city also provided a spectacular defense against intruders. For every layer, there were three towers that assist in ranged combat.

Infrastructure

Morigor is separated using walls by layers with the innermost layer being the city hall and homes of the staff members. There are four layers in all and each are purposed for something different. The outermost and second-to-outermost layers house Morigans while the remaining (besides the innermost layer) belong to the necromancers and provide a place to store the undead.

Assets

As this place thrived on the use of necromancy, magic stores and magic items were common here, though powerful ones are definitely a rarity. More often than not, you'd see staves rather than a sword, though the latter wasn't by any means uncommon.

Guilds and Factions

There are only two known factions in Morigor, and the two frequently cause conflict. The more egregious of the two is known as The Black Mori. This group of criminals focuses on grave-robbing and keeping the city underbelly locked down with undead.

The other faction, the Companions of the Pallid Mask, dealt with troublesome undead and kept the town safe. They were constantly searching out members of The Black Mori out of fear that the faction would drive Morigor to ruin.

History

Founded by Frigor Mori-Mori, Morigor was a city that had a hard time getting started. The land at its birth was rather infertile in many areas and needed terraforming in order to make the area more safe for natural life. Ever since the introduction of undead into domestic service, Morigor exploded as a place of magical advancement and innovation. In recent times, however, the undead have grown more erratic as the city had begun evoking near overwhelming amounts of power from the Negative Energy Plane. The rest of the world isn't aware of what this has caused, preferring to stay away from Morigor mostly out of fear of the undead.

Geography

The ground, much like the one on the surface of Bethalon, is gray. Though sunlight still shines on the city, if one was on foot, they would not be able to see past the fog that shields it from the rest of the world. Near the city, grass refuses to grow, the water's too salty for life to exist, and birds dare not fly near the fog. All of this is due to the festering negative energy that's built up over time, and the excess amount of it leaking into the Material Plane has caused rogue undead to sprout without warning.
