Ghatzeka Settlement in A Quiet Realm - Prostesa | World Anvil

Ghatzeka

Seeing while blind

Ghatzeka is considered a part of Ghet'Zen, and it's where the four Zenian Elders congregate to share their spiritual journeys. It's one of the smallest islands, so it's not often shown on maps. Its name is unknown to anything besides Zenians, and the waters surrounding the island are constantly unsettled by the stormy weather. It would shock foreigners to draw close to the shore of the island and be greeted by an unnatural calmness in the storm.   Magic is shown proudly on this island, and the storm that keeps it safe is one of the many results of such strong magic. Ghatzeka is a haven for spiritual guidance and mana.

Demographics

One elder from each Zenian tribe takes their place at Ghatzeka, and only their most trusted assistants are allowed to stay with them. Of the four elders, there's an orc, a human, a dragonborn, and an elf.

Government

Ghatzeka is controlled by all four elders simultaneously, and aside from this, the workings of Ghatzeka are the same as Ghet'Zen or any other Zenian tribe.

Defences

The only sort of defense that Ghatzeka has is the massive storm cloud, created by all four elders in an attempt to ward away danger. Any ship that isn't allowed near Ghatzeka is struck by the lightning from the storm until it burns or sinks into the ocean.

Industry & Trade

The elders here serve no purpose but to keep the island as a sacred gate to the Spirit World. No harm is allowed to come to it, and the elders will do anything to ensure its safety.

Infrastructure

The only building on Ghatzeka is a massive temple using traits from each Zenian tribe called Zeiknal. It serves as a gateway to the Spirit World, yet this feat can only be achieved with the combined spiritual energy of each elder.

Assets

There are none, as no elder is allowed to bring anything to Ghatzeka out of fear of pirates.

Guilds and Factions

The only ruling parties are the four Zenian tribes, as nobody else is allowed to step foot on Ghatzeka unless invited.

History

Ghatzeka, an ancient island whose name was lost to time, contained a gate that led to the Spirit World. As it was unguarded and contained countless delicate souls, the elders took it upon themselves to protect the gate. In modern times, there is always one elder to guard this gate.

Architecture

Zeiknal is made up of traits from each Zenian tribe. The foundation, walls, and steps leading up to the temple are Arc'Zen marble, the flames that provide light are magic flames from Ghet'Zen, the stained glass is from Bel'Zen, and the waterways are from Hel'Zen.

Geography

If you were standing on Ghatzeka and attempted to approach the temple, you'd be greeted to a great slope in the landscape. A river flows from a spring at the top of the mountain, and the waters which flow there are said to restore someone to their peak vitality.

Natural Resources

The ground around Zeiknal is tilled for crops, and game appears to roam freely on Ghatzeka. Aside from these two resources, there's the water from the mountain spring, yet its forbidden to be drank from by anyone other than the elders and those they trust.
"Though I've never personally gone, I was told that the closer you make it to that island, the more the storm calms. Though, nobody's said to have ever made it a mile within reach of its shores and survived. I wonder what happens there..."   "If something's hidden there, it must be important..."
