Bel'Zen Settlement in A Quiet Realm - Prostesa | World Anvil

Bel'Zen

The air is hot and humid as you delve deeper and deeper underground. As your foot sinks into one of the stone tiles, a click echoes throughout the cavern. Your tortle companion jumps out and knocks you to the side, sending you towards the ground. The sound of disturbed rock resonates in your ears, and you glance towards the source. A massive dart is embedded into the wall. As the tortle shines the fire of his torch against it, many cracks can be seen stretching across the stone. This was the first of many traps.

Demographics

Majority of the Zenians in Bel'Zen are tortles, yet there are many races wandering about, majority being from Xhanei Sands.

Government

Like other Zenian tribes, Bel'Zen is directed by an elder who has the highest spiritual energy out of them all. Though the previous elder of Bel'Zen was a tortle, the current elder is completely human.

Defences

Bel'Zen is a tribe of people that specialize in creating poisons and traps of all kinds. To step into Bel'Zen unknowingly is to resign oneself to death. Around every corner lies a new challenge and puzzle, and it continues until one reaches the heart of Bel'Zen.

Industry & Trade

The people of Bel'Zen are typically glassmakers, monks, or shamans. In their temple where their elder resides, the windows are made of stained glass. The designs within are of an art that these Zenians are truly proud of.

History

The Zenians of Bel'Zen have been reclusive ever since this tribe was created. The tortles, the native race of this tribe, are said to have the highest spiritual connection out of all of the tribes, higher than even the elves of Arc'Zen. So profound is their wisdom that they never grow angry despite the frustrations life can bring. No evil can lay a hand on these Zenians, for their peace with the world has made them immune.

Architecture

Most of the homes in Bel'Zen are made out of sandstone, densely packed to where their stained glass can fit securely. For the homes that aren't made with sandstone, they're designed to be much more secure than other homes. Luckily, there are no traps in Bel'Zen.

Geography

Bel'Zen can be best described as a complex of corridors and clearings. Occasionally, you'll see water flowing through openings in the walls. This is how the people of Bel'Zen have access to water.
