Lithomancy

Li, also known as Lithomancy is a type of magic used by inhabitants of the Island.

How localized or global are the effects?

• Global, most sentient creatures can learn to become chemosynthesist
• People tend to develop affinities for certain elements.

How does it look or manifest?

• The inhabitants of the Island of Woad can all use it. It manifests as a variety of different magical ways.
• Often evocation, sympathetic magic, religious rites, and elemental magic

How does it affect plants and animals of your world?

• The sapient species have evolved it significantly in order to keep the Island alive even during the harshest of circumstances.
• Those sapient species are: Kubeleya (arachnids), Gannwyll Gwydd (moths), Myacoris (flies and beetles), Odonata (dragon/damsel/mayflies), Wyverna (wasps, cicadas). Then, the Heno (Set animal). They are considered animals.
• The plants thus, have much less competition and have grown into the wildest monsters. sometimes even impersonating animals. This got worse when the plants became friendly with the animals and together, discovered technology (aetherism).

What problems or benefits does it create for people?

• They have no control over the plants, though when they do manage to, it allows technology to flourish
• They can manipulate a lot of the natural world in ways which although undiscovered, employ a layer of nature worship and belief in chaos
