Hexen

The Hexen are a species of Nachkommen, and evolved from discarded machines and inhabit bodies made of wood or resin. They are also often called "Goodwitches", and they're the precursor to Double Walkers.

Who are they and what do they look like?

• Made of wood, plastic, metal, and resin, mostly wood
• They are often split into two forms, one stationary and one mobile
• The machine, their Taglock, which hods their soul, is typically stationary and can only interact through vibrations
• The body, their Coffin, which holds their consciousness, can move and interact with the physical world
• They can be any size or shape, and range from crude imitations of nature to scarily realistic

What are their senses or perceptions?

• Their sight capabilities are mechanical and differ from coffin to coffin
• Some see in infrared, or by temperature, or chemical detection - and some have eyes which can do all of those
• They can't smell or taste
• Most aren't born with a sense of touch but some have a nervous system installed
• It is unknown if they can feel pain in the same way organic beings do

Where are they in your setting?

• They live everywhere, particularly around settlements of Gannwyll Gwydd
• They thrive in forested areas which have grown around old machinery
• There are certain areas like Ankou and Ghealas, where they seem to be more common in urban settlements, but this is not the norm

How do they survive in their environment?

• They are very strong and derive energy from lichen
• They are strongest in light due to photosynthesis, but have evolved to adapt in dark forests
• They also often have ultraviolet lights
• They can survive even if their mechanical heart stops
• They can only fully die by having their coffin drowned and taglock decintegrated/dissolved

What is their general attitude?

• They can be very narrow-minded and predatory
• They ultimately want to replace organic carbon bodies, as the cosmic cycle dictates them to
• Though there is a bitterness to their attitudes, there is also a sense of yearning for community

How do they feel about the other peoples?

• They see Sheena as their ancestor
• They gain most of their numbers and sympathies from Gannwyll Gwydd
• They see everyone else, sometimes including their own makers, as fair game
