Solar Administrative Front

The SAF maintains the standing military of the Union and passes laws and regulations to keep the order across many systems and civilizations. The Front uses an internal court system to handle all judicial matters within the IUS, from the administrative level all the way down to regional jurisdictions.
Violent threats to the IUS primarily come from hostile Frontier Systems and unrest within IUS borders--both of which are uncommon, but not unheard of, especially in the outer reaches of Union space.
The organization's name was decided on in spite of the IUS’ now-extrasolar jurisdiction. It has a base of operations on Balthazar, but its actual headquarters and elite training facilities are on Terra. Unlike the Pentarchy, administrators of the SAF tend to be a variety of species.

Structure

The SAF is led by a chief staff member called the Director. Directors serve for 25 years at a time, and they are succeeded by appointment from the Pentarchy. The current Director is Solomon Quintana.
The Director serves together with a group of lower-ranking officers, known collectively as the Board of Administrators. The lawmaking arm of the SAF is represented by an Administrator of Laws, and the militant arm of the SAF is represented by an Administrator of Order.
Each respective Administrator has several Chiefs of Legislation or Compliance (one of each for every Union star system) serving under them. Planetary governments under Union jurisdiction are supervised by a Terrestrial Minister and a Terrestrial Commander (one of each for every Union planet).
All systems under IUS jurisdiction must accept law enforcement administrators from the SAF into their local governments, and abide by IUS legislation. The SAF is not controlled by a ruling family or attached to any corporation--it is the only component of the IUS that still functions like an actual government organization from old Earth, and it is the strongest remaining influence of what used to be the United Nations.
