Rupture Virus

Rupture Virus is a mutation of hemorrhagic virus, primarily a cross-over between the Marburg Virus & Ebola. Invented by genesplicing in a lab in a hidden biotech laboratory near the eastern borders of human controlled space.

Transmission & Vectors

Transferred from person to person through contact with body fluids. Without correct PPE and extreme cleaning of the areas & materials where the victim has been, it can lie dormant state until it comes in contact with living tissue.

Causes

The disease is an artificially created virus from Marburg & Ebola, a number of different strains was originally created in labs specialising in bio-warfare.   It attacks the lining of organs especially the circulatory & lymphaticsystems. This causes the cells to rupture and bleed into body cavities and leak through other regions. This builds and builds until it starts damaging other cell walls and causes leaking out of the body including the orifices and eventually the skin.

Symptoms

Severe bleeding, brusing and the body temperature increasing. Partial breaking down the body structures are caused gradually getting worse as the virus spreads from the circulatory & lymphatic systems to other organs. This happens over 2 to 21 days.

Treatment

No known treatments are known at present.

Prognosis

When diagnosed and with no treatment, the victim can only get palative care only and pain relief is applied. This lasts until the patient passes away.

Prevention

Deep cleaning of any items or areas the victim has been and the wearing of PPE suits are required to deal with the cleaning of any tissue present. In rare cases the destruction of the intems are needed to prevent spread. Any fluids or tissues took from the patient is usually destroyed by burning at an exceptionally high temperature.

History

The Rupture Virus was initially created as a bio-weapon genetically combining elements of the Marburg & Ebola viruses. Going through tests the virus mutated naturally creating a virus that can easily change it's structure within a ggeneration.   The virus itself has adapted to extreme environments by going dormant within it's victims tissues if outside a living body. Thereby it can wait fora new host, usually someone coming across it, handling dead tissue or by some type of similar method, even with rare cases of surviving predation of a victim.   The bio-tech lab thankfully has it safely contained on the unnamed planet where they created it. The planet is heavily defended and not shown on any star charts or near any shipping lanes. They have released it into the local environment to see how it will operate in differing conditions and across the star system.
