Donnela Szarr
Lady Donnela Szarr, the Architect
A member of the main branch of the Szarr Family, and a Vampire Lord in Baldur's Gate.
Unbeknownst to those outside the family, some senior members of the Szarr family were vampires, who guided the family's business dealings over centuries. When this became known by one of their business competitors, they hired mercenaries to kill the family and burn their home to the ground.
In an attempt to save her, her great-great uncle turned her, making her a vampire lord. However, she was still badly injured in the attack, and was unable to prevent the rest of the family, including the vampires, from being slaughtered.
She spent two decades living in the ruins, healing her injuries and learning her new abilities, which lead the house to have a reputation for being haunted. Once recovered, she set out to grow her power, creating spawn and developing her abilities until she was able to challenge and kill the Master of the city, Hideous Gathwyck, becoming the most powerful vampire in the city.
Tumbledown's reputation for being haunted began to attract monster hunters, as well as the growing cemetary attracting visitors, and she detirmined to find a new home. In her exploration of the Undercity, she discovered the Tourmaline Depths, and had the Szarr Palace constructed above them.
She was killed in 1204 by Velioth the Martinet.
