Araj Oblodra
Araj of House Oblodra
A drow alchemist who studied blood in a quest to restore the power and honour of the disgraced House Oblodra. She ran an alchemists shop in Baldur's Gate, although many of her customers found they were being used as guinea pigs for her experiments, rather than recieving treatment.
She was particularly interested in the study of Mindflayer blood, which lead her to seek out the Cult of the Absolute. Although she did not become a member of the cult, she was permitted to set up a laboratory in Moonrise Towers, where she studied the blood of True Souls, being one of the only people who was aware that the Cult was using ilithid infection.
While at Moonrise, she encountered The Party, and purchased some of Better's blood to study.
She also expressed an interest in Astarion, repeatedly asking him to bite her. He refused every request, stating that her experiments on herself had corrupted her blood, and it smelled disgusting, and possibly even toxic.
Her refusal to take no for an answer, along with her rudeness and condesending manner to Astarion, earned her the emnity of Better, who eventually murdered her (with the encouragement of Astarion, who believed they needed cheering up).
