Perun, the Thunderer

God of storms, lightning, and warfare, Perun wields a mighty axe that creates thunder and lightning. He is a warrior god who protects the community from enemies and malevolent spirits. Shrines to Perun are often placed on high grounds, where his followers seek his blessing for victory and protection.
Rituals: To appease Perun and ensure justice in their dealings, villagers carve runes into oak branches during thunderstorms, casting them into the village well as petitions for righteous vengeance or protection against enemies.
Offerings: Sacrifices of cattle, the animal sacred to Perun, are made during the most intense summer storms. Their horns are gilded and hung at the entrances of homes to ward off evil.
