Druids of the Old Dark Wood

In the shadowy heart of Balgrendia, the Cult of the New God struggles to find foothold among a people steeped in ancient belief. Efforts to sway the populace have been met with suspicion and sometimes outright aggression, for the Balgrendians are intimately aware of the divine forces that roam their lands—forces that have been silent or unseen since the age of old calamities. Guardians of these time-honored traditions are the druids, enigmatic priests who serve as intermediaries with the Old Gods through secretive and often ominous rituals performed deep within the foreboding woods. These somber druids place the Queen of Dreams and Shadows at the apex of their worship, a constant reminder of the dire consequences her displeasure can bring.   Among the common folk, the druids are regarded with a mixture of reverence and dread. This fear stems from their role as the executors of the ancient pact with the Queen of Dreams and Shadows, a covenant requiring them to appease the sinister entities of the woods with a harrowing tithe. Rumors persist that these druids also engage in human sacrifices, offering souls to maintain their goddess's favor, further cementing their ominous reputation within Balgrendian society.
