There are many different traditions of magic. Each tradition has their own history, rituals, practices and spells. The sources of their power differ, but are all magic.
Magic defies all categorization. There have been many attempts, but all are always bound to be biased and limited by the scholars defining them.
The field has been dominated by western scholars and magic users and it shows.
Dark magic is something applied to magic that is illegal, bad. Usually defined by the folks in power.
