Category Rules in World Behind the Veil | World Anvil

Category Rules

As this world is supposed to be a growing work in progress, it makes no sense to create a bunch of categories to be filled in later. This is an attempt to create rules on how to organize the world as it grows. The primary goal is to offer an easy way for readers to navigate the pages and find what they are looking for. At the same time the navigation should inspire exploration.   At the core the following rules apply:
  • A category contains at least two categories or two articles.
  • A category contains a maxium of ten categories and articles.
  • Small articles can be added as sub-articles on primary articles.
From this follows that I will create a new sub-category each time a category grows beyond a certain size. It can happen earlier of course if it makes sense. Generally the world can be divided into four sections. To each section some special rules apply.

About

This category does not contain articles about things within the world but are about the world meta. Things like this page and other stuff. All articles are directly under the category or are a sub-article of another article. The category page redirects to the Foundation article. Which gives an overview of the basics of this world or setting.

New York

The geographic category. This category is a hierarchical representation of the locations within the setting. As the scope of the setting is New York State that is the top level category. Bellow that is New York City and the Adirondack Mountains.   Each category within this section is redirected to an article. It can be navigated by the organization trees or default category naviagtion.

Factions

Factions are the main focal point of this world. Factions are are usually organized in one or several organizations. Articles directly related to that faction appear in the same category. Each faction is part of one of the three groups.
Groups

  • : These factions have an important presence in New York City, but are active in many paces around the world.
  • Government Departments & Agencies: The state and city government departements and agencies.
  • : Supernatural factions which are mostly active in New York State.

Lore

The encyclopedia of the setting. Houses all the articles which do not fit into the other categories. The general rules apply. Sub-categories collect articles about a similar topic. All articles here are usually related to more than one faction and are not a place.
