Turtleback

In the land of Naash enormous turtles roam the land. They sometimes wade through the shallower waters and can for short stretches even swim. They can reach the size of a house and their shells are their own ecosystem. They are mostly covered in mosses. Some bigger plants like ferns can also be found on their shell. Salt-eating bacteria living on their shell make it a more hospitable place for other small organisms like insects as well. Birds use these places to rest, and travellers can walk in their shade if they are willing to go the same pace and direction as the animals.
