Nymphs
The plant protecting, nature loving, kind, quiet, beautiful, and graceful children of Chauntea
Basic Information
Anatomy
Nymphs have both a "nature" or "natural" form as well as a humanoid form. A Nymph's nature-form can be anything from moss on a tree to the tree itself. Nymphs change into whatever plant or natural object as they need or want. A Nymph can take up their humanoid form when they need to tend to nature, speak to a mortal, or travel to a specific place. When in their humanoid form, Nymphs look like a female humanoid with grass green, tree bark brown, or autum leaf orange skin and hair. Parts of a Nymph will be partially made up of natural objects such as sticks, bark, moss, leaves, etc. usually based on the previous nature-form that Nymph took. A Nymph's hair is often made up of or containing leaves, tigs, or long blades of grass. Due to the punishments put upon Nymphs during The gods War, Nymphs would gain weaknesses to the mortals' iron and steel tools and to salt which, also known as "Umberlee's curse" by Chauntea's worshipers. Ao also made it so Nymphs would lose energy and become ill if they were away from "their mother" (nature, land, plantlife, etc) for too long.
Ecology and Habitats
Nymphs live in forests, ponds, around lakes and rivers, and anywhere that is lush and bountiful with nature. A group of Nymphs is called a Grove and Groves of Nymphs gather together to watch over, tend to, and garden the plantlife of Ümbria.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Nymphs gain energy through the same means as plantlife (sunlight, fresh water, soil, etc.).
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Nymphs see through their eyes, hear through their ears, smell through their noses, feel through their skin, and communicate through their mouth / throat.
Civilization and Culture
History
Chauntea and Umberlee have a similar rivalry to that of their sisters Selûne and Shar. Chauntea and Umberlee, during The gods War, mainly "aimed" their Divine Faction's aggression and resources at their sister's Faction. Chauntea encouraged the destruction of her sister's coastal fortresses and island based capitals. Umberlee encouraged her Faction to push back her sister's control as far away from the coast as possible. As much as this pained her, Chauntea used her power to slow (or cease) plant growth in territories under the control of her sister's Faction. This left many islands and sections of the continents as barren wastelands, devoid of plantlife until they could be retaken. After the war, Ao forced Chauntea to revive the flora she had "cut off" as well as making plantlife rely on sunlight and water to grow and survive. Ao knew his daughters were vital to Ümbria's ecosystem and that he could only punish them so much without hurting the world and the mortals. Ao instead chose to punish Chauntea's children, the Nymphs. The Nymphs would keep their abilities (such as talking to animals and plants, nature magic, and shapeshifting) but would gain weaknesses to the mortals' iron and steel tools and to salt which, also known as "Umberlee's curse" by Chauntea's worshipers. Ao also made it so Nymphs would lose energy and become ill if they were away from "their mother" (nature, land, plantlife, etc) for too long.
