Basic Information

Anatomy

Dragons come in many forms and types. Dragons may also be crossbreeds combining 2 types into a new "sub-type" of dragon. These are some of the most common types of dragons throughout Ümbria.
Drachen: 4 legs, 2 wings on back, both land and sky based type.
Wyvern: 2 legs, 2 wings in place of arms, sky based type.
Drake: 4 legs, no wings, land based type.
Wyrm: No legs, no wings, slithers across ground / through water, can be land or water based type.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dragons have a unknown maximum lifespan. 5 stages of life: 0-9 baby, 10-24 child, 25-99 young adult, 100+ adult.

Social Structure

Groups of dragons are called a "Thunder" of dragons and each thunder will have a head dragon which is called a "Dragon Lord." The Thunder will have one Lord and several females and younger males along with the next generation of young dragons and dragon eggs. Each Dragon Lord (and thunder) will control an area of several square miles up to easily a hundered square miles depending on the power of the Dragon Lord and the size of his Thunder.

Domestication

Dragons can be tamed, especially at a young age, by beast masters but it is a very dangerious profession. The tamed dragons may also reject its masters wishes and flee attempting to find a thunder to join or claim a territory of its own.

Average intelligence of a dragon is above that of a average mortal with some dragons being more animalistic/barbaric and others rivaling the greatest mortal minds.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Most dragons see through their eyes, hear through their ears, smell through their noses, feel through their skin, and communicate through their mouth / throat. Some dragons are known to be able to speak telepathically to other dragons as well as some mortals.

Civilization and Culture

History

Mystra stayed out of The god War for she saw nothing but destruction coming from it. The Upper Gods (other than Ao and Mystra) had used their powers to recruit elementals warriors to aid their followers in The god War. Ao and Mystra brithed magical beings known as Dragons into Ümbria. The dragon gods Tiamat and Bahamut as well as the Elder Dragons were born to bring peace unto the world. The dragons spread out over Ümbria initially only attacking those currently engaged in the war. Soon the dragons would begin to become more wild and beast-like attacking anyone (or anything) for a meal.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Some powerful dragons do have the ability to transform into other species (mortal and animals). While in a alternate form dragons have been known to mate with mortals creating what are known as Dragonborn (mortal-dragon hybrids).

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Much of the dragon's color comes down to its habitat.
Ice dragons tend to have a white or very pale blue color. Jungle / Planes / Forest dragons tend to have a dark green to brown coloring. Sea dragons will tend to have a blue, green, or turquoise color. Mountain dragons tend to have a grey or reddish color.
