Galley
Galleys are primarily military-based vessels in the world of Phrelle. The standard Galley is 135' (L) by 20' (W) and comprised of two decks. The Main deck has the helm and sails while the lower deck is comprised of the oars and seating with one or two rooms for cargo. The larger style of Galley is known as the Alithryan Galley.
Propulsion
Galleys are a long vessel that requires large rowing crews to move and have sails to maintain their movements. A rowing crew of forty sailors allows the Galley to move up to 96 miles (4 hexes) in a single day of overworld travel. The rowing crew is supplemented with a pair of sails that take the stress off the crew when proper momentum is achieved.
Galleys with a rowing crew of twenty to less than forty members move at about half of the speed of a full crew while "skeleton" crews might still be able to operate the vessel at 25 miles in a day of travel.
Weapons & Armament
Each individual Galley's armaments vary as widely as the crews of the ships in the world; there are some standards. In the Bow (Front) of the boat on the main deck, there is room for up to four Ballista. The stern (rear) of the ship is large enough to hold two Mangonel.
The last and most devastating but risky weapon each Galley comes equipped with is the [Ram. Generally, in the shape of a figurehead, these rams are made to split the hulls of enemy vessels.
