The Underlarks

Treasure scavengers in the sewers of Capstone

The Underlarks are a group of underground mudlarks that scavenge for treasure in the filth of Capstone Sewers.   Underlarks, or 'Larks' for short, have keen eyes and pick odd shaped objects out of the grime and filth. Common finds include smoking pipes, shiny buttons and coins but occasionally Larks have found jewelery, discarded weapons and sometimes human bones.   They will attach elaborate tales and stories of origin to their found items in order to sell them on for a ridiculously high price in the markets of Capstone.   Along with finding and fencing goods, the Underlarks also do some dodgy dealings with other gangs, thieves and corrupt traders who need to do business out of sight. This includes mostly includes smuggling, but screams have been known to echo down the brick lined tunnels at night. They have also been known to liase with The Locks and Quays guild based in Talan Castle.   Larks have special gang calls when entering the sewers to let others know they are friendly or come with a guest.   The Mudlarks above-ground along the River Laurel spit on their name, saying that the Underlarks are bad for business and make people believe that honest fresh-smelling mudlarks waddle around in fecal filth.
Are you 'avin a Lark?!
— commonly said in distaste at another person's behaviour (to imply someone scavenges in sewers)

Clean Lark - stays above ground and smells clean enough to sell goods to people at market
Dark Lark - does the dirtiest work like murders

Assets

Access to all of Capstone via underground sewer tunnels. Secret intersections lead to safe areas to sleep or store things without getting swept away. It still stinks, though.
