The Deep Singer Myth in Melior | World Anvil

The Deep Singer

An ancient folk tale of an eerie singer who lures folks deep into the caves of the Long Mountains.

The legend of the Deep Singer is a tale as old as time and historically drew in many visitors to the Deep Song Caverns in the Long Mountains of Jolundria.   The fantastic natural accoustics of the main cavern have been used for singing and choirs since the Dark Age, which is where the seed of the story began. Rumour has it that a young man was embarrassed by his voice and inability to sing, so he came to the cavern at night to practise with no one around. He used the echo to hear his own voice as feedback on how to improve, until gradually he got better and more confident. One day, he vanished and was never seen again, but sometimes at night in the depths of the cave system you can hear the long lost echoes of his songs still resounding in the darkness. Many claim that he's still down there practising to this day.   After the events of The Rupture, the caves became known as the Cavern of Lost Fate that now houses a golden fragment of Edutar's fallen body. No one seems to care about the old tale about the deep singer any more because the prospect of finding a piece of the Creator's guardian is far more appealing, as the one who recovers it gains powers of creation unlike any other magic known to Melior.

I feel like the deep singer is sitting with the piece of fate, signing to it or something, IDK. Great article :)
