Secret Hideout

Over a thousand years before The Dimming there lived a people in the foothills of the Wavecrest Mountains. Here the foothills descended in great cliffs, and it was in one of these cliffs that they built their city. Carved from the cliff face itself the city spread for about half a mile in length and several hundred feet deep into the cliff itself.   Rather than simply carving out simple caves to live in, they carved whole buildings from the rock face. They used the rock that they carved away to build walls, animal enclosures, statues and a variety of other domestic uses. The rock overhang above the buildings is thirty feet thick, and the tallest building is over forty feet in height. It is believed that the people who lived here either died of disease or starvation, but their city has survived to this day. When it was discovered about two hundred years ago, there was a lot of care put into its restoration as a tourist site. Though it was surprising how much of the original stonework was still standing after all these years.   After the Dimming the place fell out of use and was mostly forgotten about. One of the few people who still remembered about the city, was a woman by the name of Harriet Kinnow, her great grandfather had worked there and the family still passed down the story of the ancient city. After the GBC began hunting Brighteyes, quietly at first, and her niece turned out to have been born one, she knew she had to get them somewhere safe. The Old seemed like a good place, if it was still standing, so she fled there with her family and took shelter among the city, which still stood.   Harriet then began trying to help other Brighteyes find their way to the city as well. And in the last nine years, ther have been another four Brighteyes and various loved ones that have found their way to the City. So far they have remained hidden, and built reasonably comfortable homes for themselves. They have become even more cautious in who they trust in the last feew years, ever since tales of The Hunter have begun to surface.
