Sun Blessed
Race Specifications: Flame Keepers
Gaurdian/Diety: Quasar (guardian)
The Flame Keepers are a sun-based race that specializes in physical combat, fire attribute magic, skills with a secondary affinity of light, and the ability to manipulate gravity at higher levels. This odd mixture of potentially broken power has gotten the race in trouble over the centuries, resulting in the subsequent hunting of them every so often by insecure powers that feel threatened by their existence.
Traits and appearance:
A Flamekeeper will generally rather avoid a fight. However, when forced into combat, they are extremely powerful and dangerous adversaries (though the lesser skilled ones may be more of a threat to themselves and innocent bystanders than their enemies.)
~
Almost all Flame Keepers have a hair color that many races would deem unnatural, (usually a warm color ranging from white to red, orange, gold, yellow, ect.). It’s perfectly normal for them, just …not for anyone else. They also all feature golden eyes, which is also normally unnatural, except for them and Moon Guardians.
The Blessing of the Sun God, aka Sun Blessed, allows those under its influence to use certain abilities, regardless of prior elemental affinities and outside of the standard magic system, with the exception of water and/or dark-based skills. This allows them to use said abilities so long as the conditions are met, regardless of areas that nullify magic and abilities that dispel magic that are not of divine origin. Their skills and abilities with aligned elements are also noticeably more effective.
Those Blessed by the Sun God will take significantly increased damage from water-based magic or water-imbued weapons, as well as the same of dark attribute abilities and attacks. Combat efficacy is also reduced at night, which will effectively negate the passive physical increases granted by the blessing.
Being blessed by the Sun God is a prerequisite for being a Dawn Guard
Those blessed may have one or more of the following traits:
A strong affinity to fire, earth, light, gravity (an extreme extension of earth), and their related magic and skills
Golden Eyes
A much less definitive sign is having a 'warm' hair color.
An inability to use water and dark elemental skills.
Slightly enhanced physical attributes.
The blessing of the Sun God is also hereditary and may be gained by one's children at birth. It may pass to one or multiple children, and there have been recorded cases of the blessing being lost by the mother, seemingly granted to the child in her stead.
Transmission & Vectors
One must be chosen by the Sun God to receive this blessing or have it passed down at birth. There are extremely rare instances documented of a blessing being passed by mortal means, though the details are unclear and are not impossible to verify.
Causes
Being deemed worthy by Solumi Terra, otherwise known as the God of the Sun, or being the offspring of one who already has the blessing.
Symptoms
The primary giveaway of someone who has received this blessing is golden eyes. This is however also a trait of the equivalent Blessing of the Moon Goddess
Other definitive signs are:
- An affinity to light magic and skills (which may be stared by those blessed by the Moon Goddess)
- A magical affinity that includes more than 2 elements, specifically: fire, light, and earth (gravity is an extension of earth)
- Can use Celestiance
- Can summon a Celestial Weapon
- relatively bright or vibrant warm hair colors,
- An inability to use water and dark magic and skills
- increased vulnerability to water and dark magic and skills
- Increased magic and physical resistance
- Increased magical and physical attack abilities
Treatment
One does not "treat" a blessing from Solumi Terra, one revels in it, unless your family is of a pacifist disposition...
Affected Groups
Essentially anyone can be blessed by the Sun God, though he seems to prefer overlooking aquatic-based races due to the obviously poor elemental alignment they have with him and his abilities.
Cultural Reception
Those blessed by the Sun God are collectively called Dawn Guards or Sun Blessed. They were once revered and treated as lower nobility. When paired with a Moon Guardian they were even able to gain an audience with a region's ruler, assuming they were available.
Nowadays, both Dawn Guards and Moon Guardians are little more than an urban legend, and a large payday for those foolish enough to seek the Black Market Bounty: Golden Eyes.
In most regions of the world, the statutes and laws granting free passage and audience rights to guardians still exist, though most guards do not know of them.
