Talsia - The Sun Character in Éda | World Anvil

Talsia - The Sun

The oldest and arguably most powerful of the elemental deities, Talsia illuminates the sky and warms The Earth and Sea. Talsia worked with Patír in the early days to create the first human, and has been a guiding light for the species ever since.   Her flaming children are believed to soar through the sky offering healing to those who need it and slaying monsters wherever they find it, and the sight of such a phoenix is believed to be good luck for all involved. Typically those who become clerics or paladins of the sun follow similar behaviour, healing the sick and smiting the cruel.

Divine Portfolio

In addition to being the god of Daytime, The Sun, and Rebirth, Talsia also holds sway over all fire whether it be protective or destructive, the season of Summer, most forms of divine healing, and a number of other things relating to heat and light. She is widely respected within the Republic and worshipped regularly by most folk, holding a spot alongside Olsír, Katas, and Temní as major figures in the Ósan pantheon.

Divine Relationships & Shared Portfolios

The Primordials

Talsia, Éda, Lútus, and Suróza are the four founding gods of creation. They predate the rest of existence, and from their power all other higher gods were born. Despite this, they are not always a unified force, with Talsia and Suróza regularly straining relations due to the former's task of protecting life and the latter's creation of countless dangerous sea monsters who can end it.

City Gods

Talsia, Olsír, Katas, Patír, and Temni are the five great city Gods. They are more widly honoured throughout the Republic of Osa in every settlement as patrons of civilisation.

Celestial Protectors

Originally a group formed of Lútus, Talsia, and Kiderha - gods dedicated to slaying monsters and protecting mortals from threats too dangerous for them to handle alone. Lútus left his warrior's post after deeming The Balance safe enough, and Kiderha was slain during the Archonomachy, leaving Talsia alone to safeguard the world.   This did not last for long though, as Olsír stepped up into the role Kiderha had left behind, using magic in place of innate draconic power. Soon after she assumed her role she gave birth to The Champion, who would grow into The Dragon's true successor. The three Gods stand as the new guardians of the world, hopefully for the rest of time.

Piety

You gain piety to Talsia by honouring the powers of the sun through acts of both kindness and destruction:
  • Healing and protecting the sick or weak
  • Destroying monsters that threaten sentient races
  • Resurrecting something whose time had not yet come - reviving a flower or tree, bringing a hero back from the grave, or simply restoring a run down building that has been neglected for too long
You lose piety to Talsia by contradicting their ideals or making them appear weak:
  • Endangering the lives of others through selfishness or cowardice
  • Needlessly harming a sentient person
  • Breeding or otherwise allowing the influence of monsters and forces of darkness to spread
Talsia’s Devotee - 3 Piety As a devotee of Talsia, you have proven yourself a worthy champion of the sun god. You can call on Talsia’s favour and cast bless with this trait. Talsia's blessing manifests as a nimbus around the affected creatures, causing them to shed dim light in a 5-foot radius until the spell ends. You can cast the spell in this way a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once) per long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting modifier for this spell.   Talsia’s Votary - 10 Piety You can cast daylight with this trait once per long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting modifier for this spell.     Talsia’s Disciple - 25 Piety You grow accustomed to the blazing radiance of the sun; you have advantage on saving throws against being blinded, and you have resistance to fire damage.     Champion of the Sun - 50 Piety You can increase your Strength or Wisdom score by 2 and also increase your maximum for that score by 2.
