Sédróm - The Wanderer

If Suróza is the patron of sailing merchants, Sédróm is the patron of merchants who travel through the land and sky. He is believed to have crafted the first road with the help of Katas, and is responsible for giving humanity the ability to teleport with spells and build grand ships with the finest woods.   His purpose during the early days of creation, before sentient races emerged, was to travel the world and come back with stories for his celestial parents, The Moon and Stars. This he did with zeal, but once the mortal races appeared Sédróm began to shirk his duty in favour of playing with the new folk of the world. So great was his amusement and love of mortals, that when the first one died Sédróm wept and spent millennia fleeing from the hands of Haroch with the mortal’s soul, for if Haroch were to claim the soul The Wanderer might never see their beloved again.   But after all that time spent running and hiding, tricking every other deity with deals and traps, Haroch was always the same distance away, ever present. Sédróm finally relented, and gained a great deal of wisdom that day. Not even the divine may truly control the end of things, and so the middle must be cherished. Since then Sédróm has encouraged the mortals to spend their time wandering and sharing their own stories with each other, enjoying what little time they have. Those who worship the God of Roads often claim that they, just like the first human to die, will be personally escorted by Sédróm to the End of All Things.   During the Archon war Sédróm aided the mortals as a messenger, transferring information across continents in seconds to help them coordinate efforts, and it is said that even now, after all this time, his roads hasten and protect travelling armies pursuing a noble goal.

Divine Portfolio

Sédróm is primarily the God of Travelling and Storytelling, but acts as a psychopomp and God of Funerals as well - delivering the souls of the dead to the Underworld and whatever afterlife awaits beyond. He also rules over Teleportation and Telepathic magics, along with Nomads, Birds, and Roads. Generally, most forms of travel and communication fall under his domain.

Divine Relationships & Shared Portfolios

Dread Escorts

Sédróm aids and works alongside the god who he holds in the highest respect, Haroch. Together they are responsible for collecting the souls of the dead, taking them to wherever they are destined to go.

Merchant Gods

As Suróza settled from her early days of creating monstrous depths, she settled into working with Sédróm, God of Paths. Together they rule over the domains of communication, commerce, and travelling. Sédróm looks after those who journey overland, while Suróza is tasked with overlooking seagoing folk.

Passion and War

Though this is often forgotten, Sédróm is a God of War. Kanzu relies on fast transports and effective communications to carry out his battles

Piety

You gain piety with Sédróm by following their example; wandering, telling stories, and even helping people to embrace the inevitability of Haroch.
  • Tell a poorly known story to strangers that you meet on your travels. The more obscure the better.
  • Building roads, ships, portals, or any other ways for people to travel more easily
  • Holding funeral rites for the departed, to hasten their travel to their final rest
You lose piety with Sédróm by going against their teachings or interfering with travel in any way
  • Burning a ship, breaking a road, dispelling a portal, or any other method of slowing down travellers
  • Resurrecting the dead or finding ways to prolong life unnaturally
  • Refusing to tell eager listeners a story
Sédróm’s Devotee - 3 piety Devoting yourself to Sédróm has led to you finding travel a little easier and quicker than most. You can call on Sédróm’s favour to cast longstrider a number of times equal to your charisma modifier (minimum of once) per long rest. When you do so, small glowing wings appear around the target’s ankles for the duration. Charisma is your spellcasting modifier for this spell.   Sédróm’s Votary - 10 piety Calling on the powers of the messenger god, you gain the ability to cast sending once per long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting modifier for this spell.   Sédróm’s Disciple - 25 piety Ever-travelling, you are granted the ability to keep on moving regardless of circumstance. Difficult terrain caused by uneven or overgrown ground does not affect your movement speed, and you have advantage on saving throws and checks to avoid being restrained or having your movement speed reduced.   Champion of the Roads - 50 piety You can increase your Dexterity or Charisma score by 2 and also increase your maximum for that score by 2.
