Description
Raw, crackling energy held as though it was a physical object. This lightning bolt given form was crafted as a gift for Lútus by Storm Giants hoping to avoid destruction, in those early days of war against their people. What their fate was in the end history does not say, but their gift has found plenty of use over the eons; both in the hands of The Skyfather and his chosen few.
History
Hero of Great Potential
In most recent times this bolt was granted to a hero named Atlas, that he may attempt to prove himself worthy of being the dual champion of Talsia and Lútus at the same time.
Stats
Fury of Thunder
This javelin grants a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. When you hit a target with this javelin, the target takes an extra 3d4 lightning damage that also arcs to any enemy creatures within 5ft of your target. Immediately after any attack, the weapon flies back to your hand.
In a Bottle
Rare moments of brilliance become more common. You critically hit with attacks made with this weapon on a 19 or 20. Additionally, whenever you roll a skill check or saving throw and roll a 19 or 20 on the die, you gain a +5 to your total.
Epiphany
When you roll a 19 or 20 on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you are given a sudden burst of inspiration and insight. You receive a d12 Inspiration die. Once within the next 10 minutes, you can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw made by yourself or a creature within 60ft. The creature can wait until after it rolls the d20 before deciding to use the Inspiration die, but must decide before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails.
Once the Inspiration die is rolled, it is lost. You can "store" a number of Inspiration dice equal to your level.
The Oncoming Storm
Calling on the divine power of the Skyfather himself to smite those who displease him, you may cast Storm of Vengeance once per month. When you do so you can choose to increase the size of the radius to 1 mile instead of 360ft.
Divine Spellcasting
While the javelin is on your person, you can use an action to cast one of the following spells (save DC 18): lightning bolt (at 5th level), Storm Sphere, Call Lightning, Chain Lightning, Wind Walk, Enhance Ability, or Skill Empowerment. Once you use the javelin to cast a spell, that spell can’t be cast again from it until the next dusk.
Blessing of Storms
If you are a worshiper of
Lútus, you gain all the following benefits for which you have the required piety:
- Piety 3: If you are not proficient with this weapon, you become proficient.
- Piety 10: The javelin has 1 randomly determined minor beneficial property.
- Piety 25: The javelin casts the cantrip thunderclap (DC 18) centred on your target whenever you land a critical hit and the javelin has 1 additional randomly determined minor beneficial property.
- Piety 50: The javelin has 1 randomly determined major beneficial property.
If you aren’t a worshiper of Lútus, the javelin has 2 randomly determined major detrimental properties.
