Årendan

The world of Årendan is a world of many wonders. From the floating cities of Zalaknan to the Dwarven metropolises deep within the belly of the earth. This is a world is buzzing with innovation and art. A world where fits of passion can be both a blessing or a curse depending on the individuals involved. Six decades have passed sense the war at the gates of Mont-Ál. A great and terrible battle where a group of heroes known as the Islanzadí’s Hand fought valiantly against the onslaught of nefarious monsters and scoundrels under the command of Tal’Dormour. This was a battle that changed the magical world in ways no one could have imagined. Historians have debated long and hard over who threw, what has become known as The Final Spell. Some say it was Tal’Dormour in a final attempt to destroy the hope of the world, while others believe that it was a last attempt by Islanzadí’s Hand’s wizard Syndrial, a fierce and powerful woman, to keep the deepest dark magics at bay. Regardless of who cast The Final Spell the results are definite. Every Hero, and every Nefarious on the battle field disappeared without out a trace. In a binding flash the entire battle field was deserted. A ripple was felt throughout all of Årendan throwing the denizens of the world out of synch with the greater forces of our world and beyond. Weakening the connections that so many people had forged through decades of training and studies. Many wizards and sorcerers found their connection to the arcane weakened or even cut off completely. The same held true to the intimate relations between druids or clerics and their gods. The great spark of the universe had been dimmed. For the past decade connections have begun strengthening once again as whispers tell of powerful Ikons. Ikons that littered the gates of Mont-Ál after The Finals Spell. Symbolic representations of each warrior that was lost, good or evil, and legend says that these ikons are actual manifestations of their souls left in the mortal world, left behind to continue their work for protection, or destruction of Årendan.
