Skill Tests
The main mechanic in WnG is the Skill Test.
Perform it as follows:
- Choose a Difficulty together and a relevant skill a. Some tests are impossible or routine, do not roll for these
- Collect a Number of Dice from an attribute + skill number. One of the dies is a special wrath die a. A character can take half of their dice to pass a test that’s easy enough. Don’t roll
- Roll the dice. a. 1-3 gains no successesb. 4-5 gains 1 successc. 6 gains 2 successes or 1 shift
- Resolve the wrath die a. 1 gains a complicationb. 6 gains glory and 2 successes or a shiftc. 2-5 as normal die
- If the character has more successes than the difficulty, they succeed a. If they have any shifts left over after they can use them for additional effects
- If the characters don’t have enough successes they fail forward, succeeding with a cost a. Takes more time than expectedb. Costs Glory or gains Ruinc. Provides them with increased difficulty in other tasksd. A New obstacle arisese. The stakes are raised
