Povlinsky was initially against joining the war, but later agreed that it was necessary to defeat the dictatorship in China and for world peace. Povlinsky would win landslide reelection in 2065 with 78% of the vote going to her. She resigned from her position in 2068 to Become a member of the Consul of the 1st Terran Republic. Povlinsky maintained that nonviolence should always be the default reaction to any crisis. However, she also admitted that when one cannot be stopped from dealing damage to another without force, then force is necessary. She was a believer in the concept of 'greater good' in which it was possible that an event seen as bad in the short term could result in a lesson being learned by society preventing a worse outcome or situation that could have happened in the initial bad thing did not happen.
