Kurokawa Mari

Kurokawa Mari (a.k.a. Mother of Genetics)

Kurokawa Mari was celebrated as one of the greatest genetic scientists of her era, known for her groundbreaking work and unwavering dedication to the pursuit of knowledge. Born and raised in Japan, she showed an early fascination with the mysteries of life and biology. This passion led her to pursue an education in Molecular and Genetic Biology at one of Japan’s most prestigious universities, where her brilliance and unique approach to complex genetic puzzles quickly set her apart. Her exceptional talent did not go unnoticed. Shortly after completing her studies, she was approached by UFP. Seeing the potential to make a difference on an unprecedented scale, she accepted their offer and joined UFP’s team of elite scientists. Her work ethic, innovative thinking, and commitment to pushing the boundaries of genetic science propelled her up the ranks rapidly. Within a few short years, she ascended the career ladder and was appointed as UFP’s Leading Scientist in Genetics. However, Kurokawa’s career came to a sudden and tragic end at the UFP’s main genetic facility on the island of Sardinia, when a catastrophic explosion destroyed the lab. The exact cause of the explosion remains unknown to the public, shrouded in mystery and speculation, but it claimed Kurokawa’s life along with several other researchers. Her death sent shockwaves throughout the scientific world, and her loss was mourned by colleagues, friends, and admirers worldwide but especially the nation of Japan, where she became a national symbol for progress, science, and feminism. In 2046 Japan requested some sort of monument for her from UFP and shortly after, in 2047 their prayers were heard when UFP decomissioned the Doomsday Machine near Japan. In the following years many artists and tourists came and painted Kurokawa's face over the Doomsday Machine, wrote her name or poems for her or made other artworks for her. Nowdays a little shrine for her can be found on one of the shoulders of the Doomsday Machine. Some Shintoists go as far as to call her the goddess of Science and Life itself.
