Sheep sacrifice to Azaz

This sacrificial ritual has been practiced by the Saniri for so many years and has been practiced in the Saniri mountains for millenia.

History

Nobody knows it's origin. It's believed to be much older than the Saniri peoples and that it's vestigial to another ethnicity that might have been present in the region and that they were driven out or killed off by the Fren-Chitali peoples who later became the Saniri tribes. This comes from the fact that Azaz isn't by any way a Fren-Chitali name because the Fren-Chitali spoke Latin and this isn't a latin name.   Another theory is that a person named Azaz who came from an alternate world came the Saniri mountains and made the Saniri tribes worship him before he was discovered by gate dragons. It is thought he jumped off a cliff in a sheep's costume to try to avoid them, but he was incinerated by the dragons in mid-air.   The Saniri myths say that Azaz was a demigod who had to jump off a cliff to show the gods he was worthy of becoming a fully-fledged god. This act convinced them and he became the mountain god before he hit the ground in a burst of flame. He didn't die from the fall. He later granted the Saniri people the gift of being able to breathe up on the mountain peaks as long as they kept sacrificing. They say say he needs the sacrifices because he will starve if he won't be fed sheep regularly and he'll become so angry that in an attempt to destroy the world the other gods will kill him. But only after he destroys the Saniri mountains and takes away the Saniri's ability to breathe on the mountain tops.
