Saniri Tribes

These people belong to the Fren-Chitali ethnic group. They usually live a semi-nomadic (there are some civilized tribes like the Tomani) lifestyle in the tall and frigid Saniri mountain range. They live in Small-ish tribes that live off the difficult mountain climate. They are amazing hunters and trackers because their lives depend on it.

They speak various dialects of Saniri Fren-Chital. Some tribes can't understand each other at all.

War Customs

When it comes to war these people fight dirty. Very dirty. They steall supplies, weapons, weak tribe members and livestock. They never actually fight in set piece battles and stick to raids and skirmishes. these fights continue until one side yields to the other.

Average technological level

They had a basic Basic level of steel working by about 160 B.B which opened the door to the use of mild steel. By 300 A.B they slowly started to get their hands on hardened steel technology. Their skill in preserving food is very good and they are very competent when it comes to processing what materials that around them in order to live off of them.

Common Dress code

They wrap their heads in a scarf-like headdress which covers most of the face and protects it from the cold and frostbite. They wear very thick woolen robes with lots of buttons over their under-clothes which are usually warm pants and a long-sleeved undershirt. The mittens they wear have the thumb and index finger separated from the rest to allow fine tune and delicate work without removing the gloves. The Boots are made of fur with replaceable leather soles to save up on material. They sometimes wear fur shawls on their shoulders as well as a fur sleeve lining which is representative of social status. Some say that in the early days (like around 3,000 B.B) they used to wear heavy fur cloaks instead of the heavy woolen mountain robe which is better for mobility. Some people do wear cloaks, but those usually come from more urban populations while the ones who live in the really harsh areas wear mountain robes.

Common Myths and Legends

The Saniri tribes were given the gift of breathing on the mountain peaks from Azaz the mountain god. Some say that this myth predates the Saniri people because the name Azaz doesn't sound at all like any sort of Fren-Chitali name and doesn't fit linguistically.

WEAPONS Saniri tribal warriors usually use spears, javelins, slings, bows, shields, axes, knives and swords (if they can make or afford them). The shields they usually use are small kite shields because they provide quite a bit of protection without loss of much mobility or materials. The spears have bladed tips capable of decent cuts as well as decent thrusts with "wings" in the back to prevent the spear from penetrating so deep that it gets stuck in the victim. Their swords they carry on on their backs in shabbards (the functional back-scabbard Shad from Shadiversity designed go check out the youtube channel "Shadiversity") to increase mobility especially while traversing the uneven mountain terrain.
