Rope torsion spring

The torsion spring was invented by the Shubanese at around 600 B.B. They stopped using it for siege engines after signing the East Hu-Balai Defence Pact(document) and they decided to sell the technology to Bashur. Bashur continued to use it for siege weaponry to fight the Guntartars whenever they tried to besiege any of their cities.

Utility

It's used for many things. From heavy siege weapons to automatic door closers.

Discovery

Someone in Shuban was twisting some ropes together by sticking a stick on either side (he was an amatuer). When he let go of them, he noticed that the ropes twisted back and turned the sticks around with a lot of force (he wound up hurting himself).
