Emperor Mario Berinus (a.k.a. Emperor Berinus)
This is the first emperor of the Berini Empire. He founded the Berinus Dynasty and he is the one who turned the isolationist kingdom into an expansionist empire.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
A tall-ish height fit man with dark tan skin and long dark brown hair.

Dark tan skin with dark brown hair. about tall average height for his people. long hair that goes past his shoulders. Muscular swimmer's body.
Facial Features
Rectangular face, long dark brown beard with thin Copper threads twisted into it. Big bushy triangular eyebrows with a slight monobrow in the middle. He is missing a front tooth and he has a chipped canine.

Court Clothes
A cloak made of purple silk with a gold trim and with silver patterns on the outside while the inside is covered in many soft colourful feathers. As an over-vest he wore a crocodile skin vest which boldly showed the scutes on the front. The long tunic which reaches about 10 cm below the knee is also made of silk, but it is blue with red patterns going through it. The hat is made of the skin of a false-bird-dragon and has a polished amethyst on the forehead as well as a silver trim around the edges. The shoes are made of fine leather with replaceable soles. Copper thread is twisted into his beard. His royal scepter is an ornately carved piece of oak wood.
Specialized Equipment
A helmet with cheek plates and a nasal bar made of hard mild steel. His spear is a hard oak shaft about 2 meters long with a mild steel head with a tip made of slightly harder steel. The spear's back spike is made of bronze. His sword has a gold hilt with a mild steel blade with an iron tang that it's end is peened onto the gold pommel. Besides his helmet, he has a mild steel plate about 2 mm thick with a very thin padded back layer strapped to his chest. His greaves are made of polished bronze and strapped onto his shins.

Personal history
The first Berini emperor. He turned the Kingdom of Berin which ruled the city of Berin as well as some lesser cities and the surrounding villages into a small empire about eleven times larger.
He started out as a soldier's son and rebelled against the teenage king who randomly executed soldiers in units and garrisons he visited (including Mario I's father who was a famous veteran). The rebellion was successful due to the fact that the general and secretary of treasury hated what the king was doing and backed Mario I. The entire royal court was corrupt in one way or another, and the chief advisor had the king do bad things so that he could legitimize killing him and replacing him. The chief advisor only got to it during the rebellion when Mario I successfully persuaded the soldiers on the walls of Berin to switch to his side. This left only the 400 royal guards who were always pampered by the kings who stayed loyal to the new king. They all died in the battle of the palace and the new king committed suicide before Mario I's men reached him.
After ruling for a few months, in 0 B.B. or 0 A.B. (there is no difference) he adopted the name Berinus after his capital and hometown, Berin and after the Berinus river which runs through it. He also started a new standardized Berini calendar which he made the official calendar. He began his reign at the age of 24 and ruled the empire for 29 years. Died at the age of 53.
Education
Military education from his veteran father, administration and civics from his friends and ministers. He learned how to swim at the age of 5.
Employment
At first he was smith's apprentice, then he was an underground operative after his father's death. He became the leader and commander of a rebel group, and after that he became an emperor and general.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Swayed his people to join his cause without much of a fight, successfully overran the Royal palace, established legitimacy as a ruler (as emperor, not as king) and founded a stable empire eleven times larger than the kingdom and established a 270 year long dynasty. Won multiple swimming competitions and hosted a yearly swimming competition as emperor, a practice that wound up staying for milenia.
Failures & Embarrassments
The first rebellion was a failure, lost 1,100 men in the fight in the royal palace due to lesser training and poorer and less advanced equipment.
Mental Trauma
The king who didn't know any better killed random soldiers as his chief advisor told him and one of these was Mario's father.

He made a habit of going swimming at least once a week. He even held a yearly swimming competition during his reign as emperor which helped him unify the people and spread his culture.

Loves fighting, swimming, sailing and admires art (sculpting etc.). He has a pet crocodile.
Wealth & Financial state
Wealthy. By a ruler's standards he is about low average when it comes to monetary wealth. For it's time, his empire is relatively large. He controls almost the entire Berinus river all the way to the sea, but doesn't know about the existence of anything beyond the river's mouth. He controls a few dozen kilometers inland of the Berinus and doesn't know much about the world beyond.
