Session 9 - A bird, a book and a map!

4th Days of the Calm Festival (Fall) 1611

During Lane's wanderings around Lorcaster, he becomes aware of a crow that seems to be warming up to him. Near the end of their downtime it alights on the trail before him standing on a old worn book. After an interaction with the book and the crow Lane discovers a map tucked in the book to Brantifax Chalet. The crow is responsive to Lanes hits that it use the map. A few days later as Lane and his companions are discussing the development the bird scratches "Help Sylphy" into the dirt.

In the AM the Pcs travel 7 hours towards the Hamlet of Norsetch. Along the way they learn the Hamlet was overrun by orcs one or two seasons ago. Just outside of Norsetch they encounter a band of orcs apparently scavenging for food and hunting the wild pigs around the old hamlet. Overlooking the hamlet, they can see the Chalet.

To orcs are bound, provided food and left tied up on the outskirts of the old hamlet. The PCs take a short rest in the orcs camp inside the remains of a stone walled foundation. Next they head up to the Chalet.

It is late afternoon.

They find a graveyard with 4 graves (Joren Brantifax, Heluthe Brantifax, Sylphene Brantifax, Brorn - a dog). The grave (For Sylphene Brantifx) appears freshly dug. Thurgood uses detect magic to learn the grave gives off powerful Necromatic vibes and seems to be the nexus of magic in the area.

The crow generally sits on either Heluthe or Sylphene's headstone (The crow seems to respond that it is Heluthe and that Sylphene is its sister and the one in need of help).

Exploring the unearthed graves seems to yield nothing of interest other than dirt. Thurgood pokes around the bottom of it and it is hard-packed dirt. Lane condsiders doing a cleansing ritual, but the party opts to explore the Chalet first.

Olivine finds the door barred and they enter through a window. Upon entering they party hears the screams of a (surely) dying man from somewhere below the Chalet.
