Session 25 - The Dirty Dirty Earth Cult

The PCs faced the first wave of Earth cultist reinforcements - a spell caster, a bullet and rider, some cultists and a golem. When the spell caster cast a shatter spell at a higher level spell slot, it put Josef and Thanatos down. It was then that the spellcaster suggested they would be spared if they re-directed their attacks at the fire cult. The PCs accepted and were herded out of the Earth Temple to a passageway that they were told would lead to the fire cult.
Injured and low on spells, the party found a room in the unoccupied areas of Tyer Basil and began a long rest. However their rest was interrupted by the sounds of poorly sneaking cultits from the Earth cult. Battle broke out with 7 cultists, a bullet and its rider, the spellcaster, Marlos (the Medusa), three Black Earth Guards and a Black Earth Priest.
Early on in the battle it looked like the party was doomed. The cultists went down like the expected fodder they were. The Bullet and rider engaged Joseph, Thanatos and Knack. The bullet got caught in a web and just could not get free and survived and escaped the battle at the end. Marlos was also caught in the web. The rider fought for a great number of rounds with Jospeh and Thanatos but was eventually dispatched (via friendly fire from the Black Eath Priest’s shatter(?) spell.
Knack and Lane provided much needed temp hp boosts that kept others in the game.
Marlos almost turned Kanck to stone (who did not avert his eyes), but an inspiration saved him from instant petrification (failed by 5 or more originally). Marlos spoke of being the “Earth Prophet” and having visions of the PCs. His weapon is a magic war pick. Marlos attempted to corner Olivine in a room, but a devastating attack from Taraxacam? Began to turn the tide for the PCs.
The Black Earth Guards pressed the attack but mostly served as “blockers” for Marlos. The spellcaster mostly countered and/or pelted folks with magic missile (eventually dropping Olivine witha high-slot MM).
Losing hp’s quickly, Marlos began to call for a retreat, but was slain attempting to flee. The Black Earth Priest grabbed Iron Fang and fell back calling for “a wall”. The spellcaster tried to cast a wall of stone but it was countered by Luke. The retreating New Earth Profit went down in battle. A Black Earth Guard tried to become the New New Earth profit and basically incinterated himself by picking up Iron Fang which was now under the effect of Heat Metal from Joseph. Another Black Earth Guard who wanted to be the New New New Earth profit went down as well.
Finally the spellcaster was held in place by an effect from (Joseph? Thanatos?). He managed to cast Suggestion (aid me) on Thanatos. Who stepped away to allow the spellcaster to escape, however before he could escape, he was surrounded and curb stomped by the PCs.
Luke has hopes of befriending the bullet who finally freed itself from the web. He stepped in front of it and cast (???) which the bullet saved against and promptly bit Luke for 30 damage. They backed off and let the beast flee.
