Session 13 - Trespassers! The Eye will see you!!!

Day 14 of Olmis (Continued)

Following Taraxacam's arrow shot into the Jester, the costumed corpses begin to move and the party springs into action.

Two attempts are made by Lane and Thurgood to thwart the expected action of the top-hat-corpse from using his ax to chop the string holding up the cage. However, both attempts fail. Josef yanks the furry figure (which turns out to be someone in a giant teddy-bear costume) half off the table breaking two of the 4 bonds. Thanatos frees the other 2 bonds. The top-hatted corpse moves over to the maid and knocks the platter out of her hands sinding it flying… its contents crash to the floor in a cacophony of metal and glass on stone! The maid-corpse begins hurling the glass and metal drink-ware about the room. The Jester-corpse leaps up and cuts the cage’s suspension rope, it lands with a \ thud on the table… had the teddy-bear suit not been moved, the spikes would have pierced it.

The trio of costumed-undead are defeated (The top-hatted one rose twice from certain final death!). A human male is found inside the teddy-bear costume he is at death's door, cut, beaten and unconscious. Thanatos lays hands on the man healing some of his injuries (5 hp). The man is distraught and traumatized. He claims there is a sick-sick, man, a re-animator further in the caves, who calls himself The Lord of Lance Rock. The party is able to piece together the man was a soldier - the rest of his unit is dead (previously discovered by the PCs as zombies in a side chamber). He is desperate to get out of this foul place! He then pukes from drinking too much water too quickly. They learn his name is Gorn and he points to the passage that would lead deeper into the caves. Lane escorts the man to where he can see daylight and Thanatos gives him food to take with him. Grateful and distraught, Gorn craws and stumbles towards the exit. Tears stream from his eyes to be free of this foul place.

The party advances forward down the passage indicated by Gorn and they emerge into a huge cave where its inhabitants expecting their arrival!

  • Torches gutter from wall sconces.
  • 5 gray-skinned creatures drool and lust after dissected body parts. Thurgood believes they are akin to ghouls having fought something similar in the Shadowfell).
  • The grey skinned beasts are clustered around a hooded figure with a large bone needle and dark thread who stands with its back to the party at a rock-table.
  • 4 skeletal archers screen an ominous cloaked man carrying a large staff (apparently the Lord of Lance rock).
  • The apparent Lord of Lance Rock demands to know why they are trespassing and is incensed at their presence. He cries out in disbelief, "Trespassers! Didn't you see my signs!" There is no response from the party and the Lord beckons his undead servants to slay them!

  • The ghouls and "stitcher-zombie" rush the party
  • The Lord casts a spell and is enveloped in some kind of energy - he erupts into a sickening coughing fit after casting
  • The archers rain down arrows.
  • Soon the ghouls numbers are dwindled.
  • The Lord casts a second spell and the party is engulfed in a dark cold "zone". Slimy tentacles reach from the shadows and cause icy pain. Again following the casting the Lord suffers a coughing fit
  • The party scrambles out of the cold darkness zone emerging and making haste for the Lord and his archers.
  • Lane calls a moonbeam down on the Lord who turns invisible and flees.
  • The party dispatches the archers
  • The moonbeam is moved in the direction they believe the Lord fled, it apparently catches or clips him and his invisibility ends as he runs out of sight deeper into the caves.
  • The party gives chase!
  • Clearly a raving, ill lunatic, The Lord is heard cursing all trespassers and that "the eye will see them!"
