Extra code inserted while working in Modal Editor

When working in Euclid in the Modal Editor, if I add a line break for readability, which is what I've been doing for years in the Old Version Edit, the code output includes an extra BR tag alongside the line-spacer SPAN that has always been there. While the SPAN is easy enough to hide with CSS (because it has a class), the BR isn't.   If I switch over to Old Version Edit, make a change, and save, the extra BR tag goes away. If I switch back to the Modal Editor, make a change, and save, the extra BR tag comes back.   The end result is that I end up with unintended line breaks if I use the Modal Editor exclusively, unless I code entirely in one block without any line breaks inserted for readability.   You can see screenshots in this post on Discord

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a post in the modal editor. 2. Include at least two paragraphs separated by an empty line. 3. View in world. 4. Use browser's View Source to confirm the presence of extra BR tag 5. Click Edit Article and/or otherwise open the article in the Old Version Edit 6. Make a change and Save 7. View in world. 8. Use browser's View Source to confirm the extra BR tag has been removed

Having the same problem on Win10 & Vivaldi. Trying to convert myself to the new interface and it's causing layout problems in all my articles.

Will investigate. There is a workaround (as you've noted) that simply opening the article in the "old edit" page and triggering a save will cause it to display correctly.

Thanks for investigating. I'd really love to move over to using the modal editor exclusively so I can get used to it, rather than switching back and forth.
