Bounty hunter, researcher, gunsmith and wanderer. Former bandit.
Few beings have as varied a background as Thorid Valenn and fewer still actually know how varied a life he has actually lead. This is not just because he goes to great lengths to keep it that way but because he overestimates how important it would be to others. This has lead him to conceal his race and identity in order to keep as much unknown as possible. Still he is renowned as a skilful bounty hunter and wanderer having travelled much of the world and lived quite a long time. Unfortunately his signature achievement, much to his annoyance given all else he has done, remains his ability to build and maintain black powder weapons which remains a rarity in the world. While he does take pride in that fact he hates how much that one part of him defines so much to his peers and others around. Still the guns are undeniably useful and while combining them with his arcane magic he is a force to be reckoned with.
Thorid always tries to do what is best, willing to ignore the law, beliefs of others or even the gods if he thinks it is wrong. While many would label him naive or even foolhardy for doing so he is neither, cynically accepting the dark and cruel place that the world can be while fully accepting that in his quest to be a force for good that one day it will get him killed. Still his behaviour reeks of distrust and fear, emotions that control so much of his life that he often appears distant even when he is being kind. Still he shows genuine concern for the wellbeing of others and respect to those who have earned it.
He has no known family, very few associates beyond business and enjoys solitude in order to collect his thoughts.

Appearance
Physical Description
Thorid is in excellent condition; stronger, faster and tougher than most people. Most notably he is incredibly agile and dexterous, a master shot with fantastic reflexes.
Body Features
He has slightly golden skin with an actual metallic sheen to it. When the light catches it correctly, it even looks like he is glowing. He is not heavy set but does carry a lithe yet muscled figure.
Facial Features
Thorid has pointed ears, much like a full blooded Elf, but a human like face. This when combined with his natural attractiveness due to his Azatan bloodline results in an appearance that, while appealing, is also slightly off putting.
Identifying Characteristics
On his right arm Thorid has a tattoo which marks him as a member of the Bordrukk tribe. It is a series of three intertwined lines forming a complex pattern that follows the arm along its length.

Personal history
Thorid was born to the Bordrukk tribe in the deserts to the south of the region. The clan lived a life fraught with danger, turning to whatever was necessary to survive in the harsh environment. Regrettably for Thorid this meant he was trained even as a child how to be a bandit, even participating in a few caravan raids as an assistant scavenging the wreckage. Thorid was raised by his mother since his father was an unknown nomad who vanished soon after his birth. She taught him many lessons in loyalty and tried to provide for her young son as best as she could given the circumstances. While it was a harsh life, Thorid proved a quick learner and looked as though he would grow into a valued member of the tribe.
It was only on the eve of his thirteenth birthday that Thorid began to display his celestial heritage. The process by which he changed was very painful and lasted a few days after which his true nature was plainly apparent. While in many societies such a child may have been considered a blessing, in the eyes of a bandit tribe Thorid was a liability. From that point on he was often treated with suspicion at best and outright hostility at worst. The treatment was particularly bad from those of his own age group who often physically bullied him. This behaviour continued into adulthood, his nature led to him being excluded from most expeditions often leaving his mother to provide for the family. While it was a life, it was hardly one worth living and was not sustainable in the long run as while his mother aged, Thorid did not.
Realising that he aged far slower than those around him, Thorid understood that his mother was weakening and that he had been a burden to her for too long. He would not be able to provide for her and the tribe would not support her in her final years while he remained. As such he made the decision, at the age of 44, to leave the tribe and wander into the desert, likely to his death, so that his mother could at least have a comfortable life in her final years. Besides, the years of sacrifice and hardship that he would never be able to pay back had resulted in her resenting her child and Thorid knew it. The only world he knew had nothing left for him and he no longer cared what happened to him.
After a few days of wandering the desert, Thorid was low on supplies and by some stroke of luck stumbled upon another lonely traveller in the dunes. Desperate water and food Thorid attempted to rob the figure, only to discover that the elven woman was far more dangerous then he had hoped. Despite expecting death at the woman's hands she merely captured him and proceeded to ask him questions about his life and heritage. Recognising the natural talents of Thorid as well as the power from his celestial ancestry she offered him a choice; die here or come study magic under her tutelage. Naturally, Thorid accepted her offer and was rescued from whatever fate awaited him in the desert.
Arriving at Terradoro, Thorid was introduced to a new life and began studying the arcane arts at the university, quickly picking up on fundamentals he missed out on learning in his youth. It was here that he discovered the other ways people responded to the Aasimar. Whether it was the negative reactions of his youth, envious stares or blind admiration simply due to his appearance, Thorid despised the fact that no matter what people treated him differently than everyone else. He dedicated himself more to his studies and began to excel, withdrawing from society as much as he could. This ability and self imposed isolation led to an exaggeration of the reactions he had previously experienced, many attributing his skill to his heritage instead of his work much to his annoyance, further reinforcing the notion that he would always be different and couldn't connect with the people around him.
One of the defining moments of Thorid's life came about a random discovery, an old beaten up gunpowder weapon in a market stall which he stumbled upon by chance on a rare incursion outside the university. He became fascinated with the weapon and began to study it in earnest, with encouragement from his master. Eventually he would solve the mysteries behind the creation of the weapon and alchemical principles behind its operation, capable of restoring the gun to full functionality as well as create new weapons from scratch. Unsatisfied with understanding the creation of such weapons, Thorid sought to improve upon them by combining his understanding of magical theory with alchemical and mechanical engineering and eventually infused his own magic into the weapon, creating an entirely new method of casting spells and fuelling the gun using magic alone.
Thorid's discoveries allowed him to graduate with honours and join a prestigious research centre to build on what he had learned. While he felt the life did not suit him, he continued to dedicate himself to his work and improve upon his abilities and the power of the weapons he created. However his minor fame led to the attention of a crazed wizard who cared little for Thorid's discoveries but was very interested in the body parts of an Aasimar. Kidnapping Thorid, the wizard was able to get to the point where he had cut open Thorid's chest before the guards were able to rescue the trapped researcher. This event traumatised him so heavily he began to hide his race from everyone, concealing his face behind a mask at all times, and eventually led to him leaving the city at the age of 79 as he no longer felt safe there.
Thorid would spend 20 years travelling, trying to find a place he could belong to, never staying in any location for more than a few days due to his insecurities. During this time he began picking up the odd bounty, trying to keep enough coin to keep equipped and fed as he wandered from place to place. He found the work combined with the travel suited him, delighting in each new place he reached and each criminal he brought down to protect others. Thorid even found himself enjoying interacting with other people, finding comfort in the anonymity the masks brought him even if that meant he could never show his face. Still he struggled to find a purpose or place in life to call his own so his continued his search until a missive inviting him for a job in Tranquil city arrived...
Education
Thorid studied magic at the University of Terradoro in the capital of said nation. While he enjoyed his studies and arcane theory he often found his mind distracted by non-magical affairs and often struggled in certain fields of magic due to his focus on mechanics and alchemy. While many teachers hated him for his lack of focus combined with brilliance, his tutor encouraged his extracurricular studies and was able to convince the university that his breakthroughs in black powder and magical infusion were enough to make up for his failings elsewhere and allow him to graduate with honours.
Employment
Thorid started life born as a bandit of the Bordrukk Tribe and was raised with all the skills expected of those who raid and rob for a living. After being saved from his past life and completing his studies he was briefly a researcher working for the Thaumomechanical Institute in Terradoro. Finally he worked as a Bounty Hunter while travelling the world bringing criminals to justice and protecting those he could.
Mental Trauma
Thorid has a number of mental issues brought about by an abusive childhood followed up by various incidents in life brought about by his celestial heritage. He has come to hate his own race due to how it isolates him from the rest of humankind both in how they react to him and how much slower he ages. He has major trust issues, a form of survivor's guilt, mild PTSD from past traumas and self loathing.
Morality & Philosophy
Chaotic Good
Thorid believes in doing what is right, regardless of how difficult that may be or how many people he might make enemies of. He is however smart enough to recognise that sometimes it does more good to let the little things slide and that sometimes a good cause requires a looser set of morals especially in regards to following laws or obeying orders that are unjust.
