Personal Log entry 145

by Sandor Khan

As I stepped on the deck the crew greeted me more fondly than the day before. I suppose they appreciated me jumping in and helping. Perhaps a good captain needs to work with the crew, instead of making them work for me. They seem loyal, if a bit grumpy. No talk of mutiny at all. Good food helps. Bacon is a true blessing. Maybe it's the honour in the work as well.

Honour, duty, fidelity. A Dragonborns creed. It is to the clan that a Dragonborn swears fealty. Any and all honour of the individual becomes honour for the clan. But what if honour competes with duty? What if it competes with fidelity? It is due to the hypocrisy of the Dragonborn culture that I was born in the first place. My parents left me at the monastery to Io when I was weaned, because it would be dishonourable to keep and raise me. Honour to the clan forced them to abandon me. All because it wasn't an arranged marriage. Never could have been as well. Metal breeds with Metal. It has always been that way. Black and Silver shouldn't match. Well they did, and here I am. Raised in secret, due to my colour shifting nature. The monks to Io could appreciate it though. I was the first in an age to be allowed in. They had to bring in younger monks from other monasteries, just to train my physical skills! They trained me in a way to appreciate the diversity inside me, and it is the same diversity I seek in my "clan" nowadays. Anyone is accepted, so long as they have loyalty and skill. Race, breed, colour, sex, it is of no concern. Although the predominantly male crew has made it tough on the females. I manage to keep them in check though.
