'Life within the Wall' Journal Entry

by Dain

Zalahk the amnesiac remembers something a leaves the party. He leaves via city gate heading north. Rizzo and Gen watch him leave but don't stop him.

There is a commotion in a building across the street from the church, the IRS not wanting to get into any trouble at first decide to ignore it. The screaming continues.

Gen & Cael have a heated argument behind closed doors about family matters. Rizzo and Nessa eavesdrop from outside, before Gen kicks Cael out of the room and they all leave without her. The lack of resolution leaves the two of them frustrated about their situation.

Cael and Ness now realize Zalahk is gone, Rizzo didn't tell them until they asked where he went. They step outside to look for him. "My day can only get worse from here." -Cael

The party gets caught up in the crowd outside the building where the commotion is, even after they take a stand they won't get caught up in any problems. They realize that the amount of magic in the air is palpable as the first clue that something is off. A guard comes stumbling out of the building with a citizen and promptly collapses. Nessa and Rizzo argue over the feeling of magic or something. ENTER SCENE Eight Lightning Strikes, who decides to pickpocket the gentleman (Rizzo) who is talking most from the two of them and knicks his coins bumping into him. Rizzo calls out Lightning for bumping him and she plays it off and apologizes, saying she really has to go.

The guards look for able men and women to help evacuate people from the building, Rizzo grabs Lightning to prevent her escape and they both have an argument and bait each other into helping the guards. Cael runs into the building to help and heads to the basement. The magic is making it hard to breathe in the building and Lightning tries to back out, Rizzo drags her into the building practically. While Rizzo and Lightning are helping retrieve people from this building, Nessa is healing the injured outside and Cael is smashing magical bugs in the basement that have affected the runes for the cooling and heating systems. (However, there were runes for FORCE slotted into the system... where did they come from?)

After aiding the guards, Cael has some conversations with the hospital that showed up to triage the hurt citizens about some background stuff. The Death God's Church, Noirdremj's Hunt, The Reawakened Hunters arrival, The Reinvigorated Spirit, the cabal of "Her Eyes". (Other notes, the Hunters get orders from the Spirit VIA sending stone.) Lightning eavesdrops on all of this. Nessa invites Cael out on a dinner date, Cael thinks Nessa is just being a good friend and thinks nothing of it.

The party splits up to do tasks they want to do:
1) Lightning goes to the thieves guild to exchange information for information where she trades details from the eavesdropping on The Hunt for knowledge about jobs, which in turns directs her to the women of Olza's Dojo in the Bohkite District. On her way to see them, she takes interest in Bohk and challenges Old Man Petev outside his dojo drawing a crowd as this is done out in the street, where she suffers and embarrassing defeat and he mocks her (due in part to the rampant sexism prevelant in the Bohk community.) The ladies of the Olza's Dojo are watching and invite Lightning to join them afterwards in their dojo, Lightning goes on to lose again to them women there after going straight for a takedown on the first round. They offer her a "guard" job for an upcoming lights festival (+ free speech?) rally for 50 silver pieces. She takes her leave asking for time to deliberate.

2) Nessa goes to busk in the city center, where later she and Cael witness the Goddess of Light (trademarked) "reformed" prisoners that walk around the city with hymnal books singing her praises. Weird.

3) Rizzo crafts a new shield to use in combat after borrowing tools from Gen who is still grumpy like hours later, chill gurl. Rizzo afterwards wanders the city (where Wils promptly rolls a 1 and a 6 on a d100 for encounters.) He runs into a crime scene perpetuated by Vanta Black, a serial killer partly responsible for the curfews in the city (besides the war) and knowing better after a short conversation with the guard, leaves. After stopping by for a drink in a SEEDY bar and a SEEDY back alleyway where the MALE manager is DRESSED like a BUNNY who does a dance for him he is promptly mugged in the street by three people and loses some of his property. Wack.

Sheridan has to go to bed due to some tests so the session ends here. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
